What the numbers don't show
These two cards are mirror images: each pays its best rate at its own marketplace, so the decision is mostly where your online spend goes. Amazon Pay ICICI is free for life and pays 5% on amazon.in for Prime members (3% without Prime) with no cap in the ICICI T&C. The Flipkart Axis card charges ₹500 a year (waived at ₹3.5 lakh annual spend, per the Axis MITC) and pays 5% on Flipkart, capped at ₹4,000 cashback per statement quarter.
Worked example: ₹10,000 a month on one marketplace is ₹1,20,000 a year. On Amazon with Prime that is ₹6,000 cashback at no fee. On Flipkart it is also ₹6,000, minus the ₹500 fee (you would not reach the ₹3.5 lakh waiver on this spend alone), so ₹5,500. The Flipkart cap of ₹4,000 a quarter only binds above ₹80,000 of Flipkart spend in a quarter (₹80,000 × 5% = ₹4,000).
Outside the home marketplace the picture changes. Amazon Pay ICICI earns 1% on most other spends, and its 2% rate only applies when you pay through Amazon Pay checkout, not on ordinary card payments. Flipkart Axis adds 7.5% on Myntra and 5% on Cleartrip (each with its own ₹4,000 quarterly cap) and 4% on Swiggy food delivery, and also 1% elsewhere. Both cards pay nothing on fuel, rent and several bill categories. The Flipkart Axis lounge benefit was reported removed from 20 June 2025 by aggregators; we have not confirmed that on an Axis document.
Choose the card of the marketplace you actually use; if you split evenly, holding the free Amazon Pay ICICI plus a general cashback card avoids paying a fee to chase a cap.
Prime, caps and the fee, by the numbers. With Prime, both cards pay 5% at their own marketplace, so the ₹500 fee decides a one-site shopper: ICICI wins by ₹500 a year unless your total Flipkart Axis spend reaches ₹3.5 lakh and the fee is waived. Without Prime the ICICI rate on Amazon falls to 3%, and Flipkart Axis is ahead by two points: on ₹10,000 a month that is ₹2,400 a year, or ₹1,900 after the fee. The Flipkart cap matters for heavy shoppers: ₹4,000 a quarter is reached at ₹80,000 of Flipkart spend, about ₹26,700 a month, beyond which that cashback stops, while Amazon Pay ICICI has no cap in the ICICI terms. That is why the table favours ICICI for the ₹50,000-a-month online-shopper profile and Flipkart Axis for the profiles with Myntra, Cleartrip or Swiggy spend.
How the rewards reach you, and what we could not confirm. Amazon Pay ICICI credits rewards to your Amazon Pay balance (ICICI T&C), usable only on Amazon and Amazon Pay; Axis cashback is credited to the card account (the Axis terms describe it as money awarded in the customer's credit card account). ICICI also stopped giving rewards on education and international spend from 11 October 2025. We have both cards' income requirements only from aggregators (about ₹30,000 a month salaried for ICICI and ₹15,000 for Flipkart Axis), and a first-year joining-fee offer on the Flipkart card is aggregator-reported only, so confirm both on the issuers' application pages.
Figures from the issuers' own T&C/MITC as recorded on each card page (checked 30 Oct 2026); sources are listed on Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card and Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card. Estimates, not offers: terms change, so confirm with the issuer.
