What the numbers don't show

Both are entry-level reward-point cards with a low fee (ICICI Coral ₹500, waived above ₹1.5 lakh spend; SBI SimplyClick ₹499, waived at ₹1 lakh) and both pay in points whose rupee value is an estimate: SBI states 4 reward points = ₹1 on its product page (so ₹0.25 a point); ICICI does not publish a rupee value on the pages we read, so we use the same ₹0.25 as an assumption.

ICICI Coral: 2 points per ₹100 on most retail spends (about 0.5% at ₹0.25 a point), 2 points on groceries and 1 point on utilities with statement-cycle caps (grocery ₹20,000 spend, utilities ₹40,000 spend, per the ICICI MITC), plus 1 domestic lounge visit a quarter if you spent ₹75,000 in the previous quarter, 4 railway lounge visits and a milestone (2,000 points at ₹2 lakh spend).

SBI SimplyClick: 5X points (about 1.25%) on online spends up to 10,000 points a month, 10X at listed partners (Cleartrip, Yatra, BookMyShow, Myntra, Swiggy and others, uncapped per the SBI programme T&C) and 1 point per ₹100 elsewhere. It pays two ₹2,000 e-vouchers (at ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh of online spend a year) but has no lounge access.

Worked example: ₹10,000 a month online at non-partner stores. SimplyClick: 5X ≈ 1.25% = ₹125 a month, ₹1,500 a year. Coral: 2 points ≈ 0.5% = ₹50 a month, ₹600 a year. SimplyClick's ₹1.2 lakh of yearly online spend also unlocks its first ₹2,000 e-voucher. For offline-heavy spenders who value lounge access, Coral is the better fit; for online shoppers SimplyClick is. Neither pays on fuel or rent.

Break-even and ceilings. SimplyClick earns about 1.25% online and 0.25% offline (1 point per ₹100 at ₹0.25); Coral earns about 0.5% on both. If x is the online share of your spend, SimplyClick leads when 1.25%x + 0.25%(1 − x) is above 0.5%, which is when x is above 25%. Below that share Coral's steady 2 points per ₹100 wins, because SimplyClick's offline rate is half of Coral's. Neither ceiling is likely to matter: SimplyClick's 10,000-point monthly cap on the 5X tier is reached only at about ₹2 lakh of online spend a month, and Coral's caps apply only to its grocery and utility categories (400 points each per statement cycle).

Fees, vouchers and eligibility. SimplyClick's ₹499 fee is waived at ₹1 lakh a year and Coral's ₹500 at ₹1.5 lakh, so a light spender between the two pays the fee on Coral only. SimplyClick's two ₹2,000 Cleartrip or Yatra e-vouchers (at ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh of online spend in a year) are counted in our net values at half their face value because they are vouchers, ₹1,000 each; Coral's milestone is 2,000 points at ₹2 lakh, worth ₹500 on our assumption, rising by 1,000 points for each further ₹1 lakh up to 10,000 points a year. Both give a 1% fuel surcharge waiver (Coral at HPCL pumps on ₹400 to ₹4,000, SimplyClick on ₹500 to ₹3,000 at any pump). ICICI states a ₹20,000-a-month salaried income for Coral; we could not confirm an SBI eligibility figure in a document we read.

Figures from the issuers' own T&C/MITC as recorded on each card page (checked 30 Oct 2026); sources are listed on ICICI Bank Coral Credit Card and SimplyCLICK SBI Card. Estimates, not offers: terms change, so confirm with the issuer.
