Fee maths: The ₹500 annual fee is waived at ₹1,50,000 a year of eligible spend, about ₹12,500 a month. All of our profiles clear that, so the fee costs nothing on them. On our 6 profiles it nets from ₹843 (first card, light spender) to ₹8,900 (frequent flyer), equal to 0.3% to 0.6% of spend across the profiles. Without a waiver, the metro salaried category mix earns back the fee from about ₹9,500 a month of total spend.
After fees and caps, best-case redemption. Use your own spend.
Our take: A low-fee ICICI card (₹500, waived at ₹1.5 lakh) that pays 2 points per ₹100 on most spends and gives one domestic lounge visit a quarter if you spent ₹75,000 in the previous quarter. Grocery spends are capped at ₹20,000, and utility and insurance spends at ₹40,000, per statement cycle in the MITC. The ICICI documents we read give no rupee value per point, so we use ₹0.25 as an estimate; aggregators quote up to ₹0.40 for some routes.
From the card's terms: strengths
- 1 domestic lounge visit a quarter
From the card's terms: limits
- Base return is only about 0.5% on other spends
